Report outages in person at 24th & Main; 12th & Alameda

NORMAN – OG&E announced today that it will open customer walk-up centers in Norman for customers still without power following Tuesday evening’s windstorm. There are two locations:

  • Hobby Lobby, Main Street & 24th Ave. NW
  • Harbor Freight, 12th Ave. NE & Alameda Street.

Walk-up centers enable customers whose power is off to report their outage in person to OG&E representatives who also can take questions or comments. They will be open until 7 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

“We understand that an extended power outage, particularly during hot weather, can be frustrating,” said OG&E spokesman Brian Alford. “We want to be sure our customers know they can contact us, even when vital utility services are interrupted. Parts of the electric system in Norman have received significant damage and as a result, the outage for some of our customers could last a day or two.”

OG&E has activated its Incident Command System, applying a detailed assessment, planning and work program to restore service as safely and quickly as possible. Norman is by far the hardest-hit community, with more than 30,000 customers affected on 16 different circuits that were knocked off line. It is estimated that 70 distribution poles and 36 transmission structures went down in the storm. Tree damage has caused additional power problems.

OG&E encourages everyone whose power is off to call (405)-272-9595 or report it at a walk-up center.

OG&E serves approximately 785,000 customers in a service territory spanning 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.
